While you might not get the full benefit of the site when using the trial membership, you should at least be able to figure out if you like it. Some people even sign up for trial memberships with multiple services.

The first thing you will have to do is build a profile. The profile is the first thing that a potential partner will see when it comes to you. Nearly everyone agrees that adding a photograph will increase your chances of getting noticed. Most people ignore those profiles without images.
